Turkish Interpretation

Hire a Turkish Interpreters

Turkish interpreters for depositions, arbitration and hearings, for construction, textile, machinery and shipping disputes, and for corporate and supplier meetings. Turkish matters in our practice are commercial and contract shaped, and the family-law and immigration work that follows a business community rather than preceding it.

Why Kaplan

Turkish Interpretation Matched to the Contract and the Setting

Construction, Trade and Contract Disputes

Most Turkish matters we staff are commercial: construction and subcontractor disputes, textile and apparel supply contracts, machinery and parts distribution, shipping and freight claims, and the arbitration those contracts route into. The interpreter has to hold defined contract terms steady across a whole session, so we send the agreement and the exhibit list ahead and settle the terminology before the first question.

Azerbaijani Is a Separate Request, Not a Substitute

Azerbaijani and Turkish are closely related and partly mutually intelligible, which is exactly why substituting one for the other seems harmless and is not. Comprehension drops under pressure and on technical vocabulary, and a sworn record is the wrong place to discover the gap. If the speaker is Azerbaijani we say so and source for Azerbaijani rather than sending a Turkish interpreter and hoping.

Registered, With the Status Stated Exactly

Turkish is not one of California's twelve certified spoken languages, and the federal certification examination is offered for Spanish and English only. Turkish interpreters credential through California's registered path or qualify federally as professionally qualified. Nobody is a court certified Turkish interpreter and we do not describe anyone that way. We send the credential packet to chambers in advance.

FAQs

Common Questions About Turkish Interpretation

Are Turkish interpreters court certified in California?

No. Turkish is not one of the twelve certified spoken languages in California, which are Arabic, Cantonese, Eastern Armenian, Farsi, Filipino (Tagalog), Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish and Vietnamese. Turkish interpreters credential through the registered path, which requires the written exam, the oral proficiency exam in English and the oral proficiency exam in the target language where one is offered. See our court-certified interpreters page for how certified and registered differ.

Is there a federal certification for Turkish court interpreters?

There is not. The federal court interpreter certification examination is offered for Spanish and English testing only. For Turkish the Administrative Office's category is professionally qualified, reached through a State Department or United Nations examination, a National Center for State Courts examination, or AIIC or TAALS membership with English in the pair. We name which of those a proposed interpreter has met rather than calling them certified.

Can an Azerbaijani speaker use a Turkish interpreter?

We do not recommend it and we will say so. Azerbaijani and Turkish are closely related and only partly mutually intelligible, and comprehension falls away on technical vocabulary and under the pressure of questioning. A sworn record is the wrong place to find the limit. Tell us which the speaker uses and we source for that language.

Do you cover Turkish for depositions and arbitration?

Yes. Turkish assignments in our practice are mostly construction and subcontractor disputes, textile and apparel supply contracts, machinery distribution and shipping claims, and the arbitration those contracts route into, onsite or by video with witnesses in Turkey. See our deposition interpreters page for the read-back and exhibit conventions.

Can you provide Turkish interpreters for supplier and corporate meetings?

Yes. Supplier negotiations, factory and site visits, quality audits and distribution meetings are regular Turkish corporate assignments. We staff consecutive interpreters for meetings and negotiations and simultaneous teams with equipment for larger sessions. See our corporate interpreters page.

Where do you provide Turkish interpreters?

Onsite in California and in New York, and by video remote nationwide. Our Turkish bench runs to roughly two dozen interpreters across the network, about half of them in California, so scheduled in-person work in the major metros is straightforward and we tell you plainly when a smaller market has to run by video.

Do you interpret Turkish for medical appointments?

Yes. Hospital consultations, independent medical examinations and specialist appointments come up regularly, most often attached to an injury or compensation claim. See our medical interpreters page for how those are staffed.

Can you translate Turkish documents as well?

Yes, as separate written work from the interpreter. Our certified document translation covers contracts, technical specifications, civil records and exhibits, with certificates of accuracy accepted by courts and agencies. For court filings see certified legal translation.
